SULFACETAMIDE (Klaron®, Sebizon®) is a sulfonamide antibiotic skin wash that treats minor skin infections. This lotion also helps improve certain skin conditions like acne or seborrhea. Generic sulfacetamide skin lotion is not yet available.

They need to know if you have any of these conditions: large areas of damaged skin an unusual or allergic reaction to sulfacetamide or 'sulfa drugs', other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives pregnant or trying to get pregnant breast-feeding
How should I use this medicine?

Sulfacetamide skin lotion is for external use only. Do not take by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Wash hands before and after use. If applying to the scalp part one section of the hair at a time and squeeze on a small quantity of the lotion from the inverted tube. The scalp should be completely moistened and lotion gently rubbed in with the finger tips. After applying the lotion brush the hair thoroughly for 2 to 3 minutes. Leave overnight. This lotion is easily rinsed out from the hair with water and the hair should be washed with shampoo at least once a week. Use your doses at regular intervals. Do not use your medicine more often than directed. Finish the full course prescribed by your prescriber or health care professional even if you think your condition is better.
Contact your pediatrician or health care professional regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.
What if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.

Do not use any other skin products without telling your prescriber or health care professional. Check before starting or stopping any of your medicines or non-prescription products.

Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible: fever joint pains skin rash, redness, blistering, peeling of skin or mouth or other areas sore mouth or mouth ulcers unusual tiredness or weakness
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome): mild skin irritation or dryness
What should I watch for while taking sulfacetamide?

Tell your prescriber or health care professional if your symptoms do not improve in 2 to 3 days.
If you get any sign of an allergic reaction, stop using your lotion and call your prescriber or health care professional for advice.
Keep out of the sun, or wear protective clothing outdoors and use a sunscreen. Do not use sun lamps or sun tanning beds or booths.

Keep out of the reach of children.
Store at room temperature between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F). Do not freeze. Keep away from heat. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
